OCC Controller / Flight Support

The OCC Controller is responsible for executing the daily operational plan and flight operations for all scheduled and non-scheduled flights with the objective of on-time operations within the parameters of official rules and regulations as well as corporate policies and requirements.
Whenever required, this position will take over Flight Support duties, to ensure the OCC complies with the required staff training, procedures and checklists are in place to support the OCC staff in their daily business and ACMI/charter flights are being prepared in cooperation with the Director Chartering/ACMI.

OCC Controller role responsible for:
• Overall management of the daily flight program, operations control, and supervision of all flights.
• Respond to minimize the impact of irregularities and disruptions by developing and implementing solutions.
• Find, organize and contract ACMI if necessary, negotiation with aircraft brokers and airlines.
• Act as a central point of coordination and communication with OCC Manager, MOC, OCC Control Assistants, Crew Controller, Re-Planner, Crew Planner, crews, handling agents and authorities.
• Completion and filing of operational flight plans considering ETOPS, NAT HLA and OTS tracks and ensure the safe and efficient operation of Norse Atlantic aircraft.
• Check, analyse and monitor weather data, NOTAM, SNOWTAM, ASHTAM, ANM and ATC information.
• NOTAM check in regard to airport closure, runway restriction, firefighting category, navigation aids, communication aids, restricted areas, prohibited areas, temporary flight restrictions, splashdown areas, missile launches, military operation areas, controlled firing areas, warning areas, danger areas.
• Analyse, monitor and report major weather phenomena which affect or are likely to affect aircraft operations, e.g. strong winds, precipitation, icing conditions, low visibility, thunderstorms, tropical storms, hurricanes, volcanic activity.
• Analyse, monitor and report major issues which affect or are likely to affect aircraft operations, e.g. industrial actions, fuel shortages, political unrest.
• Flight preparation and inflight assistance on request of crew (delivery of weather/ATC information, recalculation of operational flight plans, performance calculations etc.).
• Independent organization of handling, fuelling, catering etc.
• Ad-hoc coordination of airport slots, overflight permits and traffic rights.
• Consult the FOW on duty in case of disruptions and lead the recovery process.
• Initiate and act according to the ERM – refer to ERM section 2 and ERM section 3.9.
• Document and record all events and relevant information on the OCC Control Log.
• Keep the OCC SharePoint site up to date with delays, disruptions, alerts and a daily operational status to inform the Norse management and external stakeholders.
• Report any irregularities which lead to excessive delays, added expenses or violations to the OCC Manager.
• Briefing of the OCC Control Assistant and Crew Controller at the beginning of each duty.
• Debriefing of the OCC Control Assistant and Crew Controller at the end of each duty.
• Additional duties as assigned by the OCC Manager.
Flight Support role responsible for:
• Training implementation for OCC staff and third-party service providers linked to the OCC.
• OCC duty roster management.
• Creating and updating OCC procedures, guidelines, and checklists.
• Organization and coordination of services for special flights, training flights and ACMI/charter flights.
• OCC systems/applications address management.
• OCC phone system contact management.
• Reporting and following-up on issues with systems/applications used in the OCC.
• Compilation and management of reports and statistics.
• Updating PDC with seasonal schedule and schedule changes from Commercial department.
• Check overflight invoices for correctness.
• Strong collaboration and general support for OCC Controller, OCC Assistant, Crew Controller, Re-Planner, Crew Planner and Flight Operations.
• Taking over shifts in case of sickness/vacation of an OCC Controller.
• Additional duties as assigned by the OCC Manager.
Required qualifications and certifications
• Ability and right to live and work in Norway
• Professional experience as a flight dispatcher
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Required experience
• Comprehensive understanding of all areas of airline operations
• Knowledge of OCC related systems, ETOPS, navigation, meteorology and air traffic control
• Previous experience with PDC Airline Suite will be appreciated
• Ability to manage workload in a high-pressure environment
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills, proactive decision making and a high level of teamwork
• Ability to work shifts as well as weekends and public holidays
