Payroll Manager Norway

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Manager for Norway to join Norse Atlantic Airways. This is an essential position that plays a central role in ensuring accurate, compliant, and professional payroll delivery for all employees in Norway. The role is a key pillar within our Norwegian operations and contributes directly to maintaining the integrity and quality of our people and financial processes. As Payroll Manager, you will handle a broad range of responsibilities and become a trusted specialist within the organization. In this position, you will be an integral part of the Norse Finance Team and will report directly to the Group Payroll Manager.
Responsibilities and Duties
• Manage the full end-to-end payroll process for the Norwegian entity, including airline crew, technical personnel, and management employees.
• Ensure all employee data is accurate, maintained, and processed on time.
• Collect, verify, and process payroll inputs from the People Team and line managers based on approved transactions.
• Handle sick leave claims and reimbursements through NAV in accordance with Norwegian legislation.
• Calculate and reconcile holiday pay in compliance with the Norwegian Holiday Act.
• Ensure timely and accurate payment of tax, employer contributions, and social security obligations.
• Reconcile tax and social security amounts and resolve discrepancies proactively.
• Report monthly salary information to the pension provider for correct pension calculations.
• Prepare and submit statutory reports required by Norwegian authorities and ensure full compliance with all regulations.
• Report new and exit of employees to the Health and Life Insurance providers. Accounting and Controls
• Perform detailed review and validation of payroll output before salary remittance.
• Maintain strong internal controls to ensure high-quality, compliant payroll delivery.
• Record payroll-related transactions in the accounting system and ensure accurate bookkeeping entries for salaries, taxes, social security, pension, and other payroll liabilities.
• Collaborate with the Finance team to ensure payroll postings align with accounting standards and support the monthly financial closing process.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related questions from employees and management in Norway.
• Provide guidance, clarification, and service-oriented support to internal stakeholders.
• Work closely with Finance, People, Auditors, and external partners when required. Continuous Improvement
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, systems, and controls.
• Support implementation of new procedures, tools, or policies to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Contribute to cross-functional projects and initiatives as Norse continues to grow and evolve.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, Business Administration, or another relevant field.
• Formal training or certification in payroll, accounting, or Norwegian employment legislation is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of Norwegian payroll regulations, taxation rules, social security, NAV processes, and the Norwegian Holiday Act.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proficient in English and the Norwegian language
Required experience
· Experience in payroll processing within Norway, ideally for medium or large organisations.
· Experience working with complex payroll environments, such as multiple employee groups (e.g., airline crew, shift workers, technical personnel).
· Previous experience with accounting or bookkeeping, particularly related to payroll postings.
· Experience collaborating across Finance, HR/People teams, and external authorities/vendors
