Payment Manager
Joining Team Norse is more than getting a job. It is all about belonging.
Are you ready to own the payment ecosystem of a fast-growing global airline — from architecture and approval rates to fraud and compliance?
We're looking for a Payment Manager to take full ownership of payments across Norse. This is a broad, business-critical role that sits at the intersection of Finance, Commercial, Technology and Operations. Payments touch every sale we make — and getting them right means lower cost, higher approval rates, stronger cash flow, and a seamless experience for our passengers. You'll report directly to the CFO and work closely with the CCO to shape and execute our payment strategy.
This is a permanent, full-time, office-based role for someone who understands payments end-to-end and is equally comfortable talking architecture with engineers, business rules with fraud analysts, commercial terms with acquirers, and strategy with the C-suite.
What You'll Be Doing:
Strategy & ownership
Define and drive Norse's payment strategy together with the CFO and CCO.
Own, manage and develop the end-to-end payment ecosystem across all markets and channels.
Payment architecture & methods
Work hands-on with the building blocks of payment and continuously develop our payment architecture.
Own, manage and roll out new payment methods in our most important markets.
Optimize the payment value chain and architecture with a clear focus on cost, cash flow and approval rates.
Cost, performance & control
Monitor card costs and continuously optimize business rules to improve performance.
Define, monitor and report on payment KPIs — and act decisively on deviations.
Lead and develop Norse’s Revenue Protection Team to reduce losses from charge backs and fraud
Fraud, risk & compliance
Further develop our fraud prevention and chargeback capability and ensure we run the right business rules.
Own PCI DSS compliance for our payment estate and stay ahead of evolving compliance requirements, keeping our setup audit-ready.
Partners & cross-functional leadership
Own the relationships with payment service providers, acquirers and our orchestration layer.
Facilitate close collaboration across IT, Legal, Operations, Finance and Customer Service to ensure a seamless payment, chargeback and fraud ecosystem.
What We're Looking For
3+ years of hands-on experience in payments — across areas such as acquiring, orchestration, PSPs or alternative payment methods, ideally in e-commerce, travel, airline or another high-volume, card-not-present environment.
Strong commercial understanding of payment economics — interchange and scheme fees, approval/decline rates, chargebacks and settlement.
Working knowledge of the payment stack: PSPs, acquirers, orchestration, alternative payment methods and tokenization.
Experience with fraud prevention tools and business-rule management.
Ownership mindset around compliance, with solid working knowledge of PCI DSS.
Strong analytical skills — comfortable with KPIs, data and turning numbers into decisions.
A natural collaborator who can align stakeholders from engineering to the C-suite.
Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
Nice to have:
Experience from the airline or travel industry and familiarity with systems such as Navitaire.
Background in settlement, reconciliation or treasury.
Experience negotiating commercial terms with payment vendors.
We offer
The possibility of being part of a great team, working together to build one of the most exciting new airlines
An informal and positive work environment
Competitive benefits
We believe that culture will be our competitive advantage.
Team Norse has identified three core values that we all should live and breathe.
They are:
Be inclusive
Take ownership
Show kindness.
Deadline: 15th July
Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis.
