About the role:
The Tax Controller is a key role within Norse’s Finance department, responsible for managing all aspects of tax transactions across the airline. The Tax Controller will assist the rest of the organization in ensuring that relevant taxation matters are considered in key business decisions. This role will lead the development, maintenance, and execution of Norse’s transfer pricing policy and ensure correct accounting, timely reporting, and payment of all types of taxes across different jurisdictions where Norse operates.
Your Main Responsibilities and Duties:
- Own and manage Norse’s international tax, transfer pricing, and direct and indirect tax obligations
- Deliver a full range of tax services in compliance with laws and regulations, seeking external advice when necessary
- Actively develop and maintain Norse’s transfer pricing policy and routines
- Manage the periodic execution of transfer pricing transactions across the Group
- Ensure compliance with domestic and international tax regulations
- Oversee the timely filing of tax returns and related reports (CIT, VAT, etc.)
- Optimize engagement with tax consultants
- Develop and maintain an overview of applicable passenger and airport taxes
- Implement processes to ensure proper accounting, reporting, and payment for all applicable passenger and airport taxes
- Ensure future tax liabilities are accurately recorded in financial statements
- Manage and coordinate tax audits
- Support and/or lead various tax and finance-related projects as needed
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or Economics (Mandatory)
- Professional Certifications such as ACCA or CPA (Highly Desirable)
Required Experience:
- 3-5+ years in tax accounting, compliance, and advisory roles
- Experience in the airline or aviation industry (preferred but not required)
- Experience working with multinational corporations (MNCs) or Big 4 accounting firms is a plus
- Expertise in corporate tax compliance & planning (including VAT, GST, excise duties, and international tax laws relevant to aviation)
- Experience with ERP/Accounting software
- Familiarity with Transfer Pricing regulations
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical & problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail & accuracy
- Excellent communication & negotiation skills, especially when dealing with tax authorities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment
