Safety Manager NO AOC

We are looking for a Safety Manager (SM-NO) to lead and continuously strengthen the Safety Management System within Norse Norway. In this role, you will report directly to the Accountable Manager and act as the central driver of safety across the organization. You will own the development, implementation, and ongoing evolution of our Safety Management System, ensuring it remains effective, compliant, and fully embedded in daily operations. As the focal point for safety management, you will lead hazard identification and risk management processes, maintain and develop the company Risk Register, and ensure that risks are actively monitored and mitigated. You will also serve as the designated Safety Manager in accordance with EASA requirements, maintaining continuous oversight and control of operational safety. You will work closely with the Accountable Manager/Chief Operating Officer, Nominated Persons, and the Safety Action Group, while also supporting both the Operations Management Team and Executive Management Team.
This position offers high visibility and direct influence on strategic and operational decision-making. We are looking for a candidate who combines strong regulatory understanding with a pragmatic, data-driven approach to safety, and who is confident operating at both operational and executive levels.
Responsibilities and Duties
The SM reports directly to the Accountable Manager and is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the Safety Management System.
The Safety Manager is the focal point for the Company’s safety management and is responsible for the development, administration and maintenance of the safety management system for the following Certificates:

NO.CAMO.0059
The Safety Manager shall normally possess the following qualifications:
Operational experience in Commercial Aviation and good knowledge of all areas of Operations
Have analytical problem-solving skills
Thorough knowledge and understanding of risk-based safety management
Have effective communication skills, both verbally and written
Understand human and organizational factors The functions of Safety Manager include:
Management of the SMS on behalf of the Accountable Manager Promoting and demonstrating commitment to the safety policy
Facilitation of and support for hazard identification, risk analysis and management
Monitor implementation of actions to mitigate risks in the safety action plan Safety Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Monitor implementation of actions to mitigate risks and evaluates their results/effectiveness
Provide periodic reports on safety performance
Ensure sure maintenance of the safety management documentation
Actively promotes corporate culture for safety
Ensure safety management training that meets acceptable standards
Provide independent advice on safety matters
Ensure initiation and follow-up of internal occurrence / accident investigations
To collate, understand and disseminate relevant safety related information from other operators, the CAA, and contracted organizations
Provide advice on safety matters
The Safety Manager is furthermore the focal point and responsible for facilitating the organization’s hazard identification and risk management processes, including managing the Risk Register as a register of hazards, risks, and risk controls (mitigations).
The Safety Manager is the designated Safety Manager under EASA requirements.
The Safety Manager is assisted by the Deputy Safety Manager, and designated safety personnel for the operational divisions as applicable (i.e.: Flight Safety, Cabin Safety, Fatigue Management, Ground Safety, Training, and Technical Safety) safety advisers and the safety action group in the operations.
The Safety Manager will at all times maintain active control of safety in the Company.
The Safety Manager has a direct line of communication to the Accountable Manager. Normal lines of communication are towards the Accountable Manager, Nominated Persons (NPs), and the safety action group.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Regulations
Regulation 965/2012, Part ORO and AMC and GM (including ORO.GEN.200 and AMC1 ORO.GEN.200 (a) (1). Competency 1.Laws and regulations:
The candidate must be able to explain concepts, intentions and practical methods regarding:
aviation regulations, in particular BSL D 1-1, Regulation 965/2012(EASA OPS)
requirements for aviation management systems (especially EASA OPS, Part ORO) • standards for quality management
standards for risk management
standards for risk assessment
ICAO Annex 19 2.The Company's Operations Manual / Handbooks; -in addition, the candidate must be able to account for
the company's security policy
the company's organizational structure and general responsibilities
relationship and connection between the various manuals
operational regulations and responsibilities of operational personnel
the company's management system for the operational activities
the company's management system including safety management and compliance monitoring
risk management, in particular risk assessments
the company's various types of operations The candidate must document relevant training in:

Quality management system, and:
Risk management system Candidates who have previously been approved as quality manager in airlines must document additional training in:

NORSE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION
The minimum requirements and experience:
1. Practical experience and expertise in the application of aviation safety standards and safe operating practices
2. Extensive experience from operations like Norse Atlantic AS
3. Extensive relevant work experience of which at least 5 years should be from an AOC Management position
4. Advanced SMS Training
5. Comprehensive knowledge of:
(i) the applicable EU safety regulations and any associated requirements and procedures
(ii) the AOC holder's operations specifications; and
(iii) the need for, and content of, the relevant parts of the AOC holder's operations manual
(iiii) ICAO Annex 19, Safety Management
Required experience
5+ years of relevant work experience, of which at least 2 years should be from the aeronautical industry in an appropriate position.
3+ years practical experience and expertise in the application of aviation safety standards and safe operating practices and comprehensive knowledge of:
the applicable EU safety regulations and any associated requirements and procedures.
the AOC holder's operations specifications.
and the need for, and content of, the relevant parts of the AOC holder's operations manual.
familiarity with management systems preferably in the area of aviation
appropriate management experience, preferably in a comparable organization
